Red Colored Asphalt for Ethiopia — 280 t Binder and 140 t Iron Oxide Red Delivered Ex-Works
Case notes
In mid-October, a full lot of colored pavement materials left our Dezhou works bound for Ethiopia: 280 tons of red colored asphalt binder and 140 tons of iron oxide red pigment. The cargo was delivered ex-works at the LIJIU factory, palletized, and loaded into sealed containers under our own supervision — before the road leg to Qingdao port.

Why the buyer ordered binder and pigment together
The Ethiopian contractor is building red colored urban pavement under a municipal beautification program. Rather than blending base bitumen with modifier and colorant on site, they took two ready materials from one gate: a pre-colored red asphalt binder and iron oxide red pigment for final shade adjustment.
Sourcing binder and pigment from the same factory solves a common split-shipment problem: when the binder comes from one supplier and the pigment from another, the shade can drift between batches. Here, both materials were tuned against the same color panel, so the mix design stays consistent from the first truck to the last.
Production and packing at the Dezhou works
The red binder was produced in our own line and hot-filled into 200 L galvanized steel drums, then strapped and stretch-wrapped on wooden pallets. Every pallet block carries an external label with product name and batch number, so the consignee can reconcile drums against the packing list without opening a single one. The iron oxide red was packed to the same sea-worthy standard, palletized and ready for stuffing.
Loading at the yard
Empty containers were backed into the yard and loaded through our mobile dock ramp — no permanent bay required. Yard staff counted drums against the packing list as they went in, and each container was sealed immediately after stuffing. From the works, the containers move overland to Qingdao for ocean freight; for Ethiopian buyers, the usual onward route runs through Djibouti’s Doraleh port and inland to the project site.
What overseas buyers actually get
One factory, one quality record, one packing list: binder grade, pigment shade and drums leave the same gate. For East African road contractors that means fewer split shipments, simpler claims handling, and a single technical contact for mix guidance — recommended aggregate gradation, mixing and compaction temperature, and cure time for a red thin-overlay course.
